Alex Pain: Cut Across the Grain to Give a Richly Textured Surface

CUSP presents a solo exhibition by Alex Pain featuring a selection of new and recent works which deal with the relationship between object and material. Using rigidity, flaccidity, density and porousness as a vocabulary, the works are an investigation into the qualities of materials through architectural reference, resulting in sculptures which are both simple in form and complex in their unusual pairings and juxtapositions of surface.
